Designing a child-centric campus in Royalcity
Located in Royalcity, Lucknow, this Kidzee preschool was planned for 120 young learners. The 3,300 sq. ft. site accommodates a 2,250 sq. ft. G+1.5 building, with classrooms and activity rooms spread across the ground floor, first floor and partial upper level. Each space supports Kidzee’s integrated curriculum, where play and classroom learning remain closely connected.
The compact plan leaves valuable outdoor space for play, movement and daily arrival. At the front, tall wood-finished forms, Kidzee’s purple identity and large windows give the school a face children can recognise. A broad canopy marks the entrance and creates shade near the play area.
An outdoor zone made for active play
The Kidzee play yard sits close to the classrooms, making outdoor activity part of the regular school day. A spiral slide, climbing elements and water jets give children different ways to move, balance and explore.
The overhead canopy keeps part of the yard shaded. Nearby windows allow teachers to watch the space while children play with more freedom.
Learning through make-believe
A child-sized role-play corner brings familiar settings into the classroom. Children can pretend to cook, build, shop or create stories with their friends. This reflects Kidzee’s approach to hands-on learning, where everyday play becomes part of the lesson.
Open shelves and small counters are kept within easy reach. The activities can change with classroom themes, giving teachers more ways to use the space through the year.
Classrooms planned at a child’s scale
Each Kidzee classroom uses low tables, accessible storage and built-in seating that children can use with less assistance. Furniture can shift between group lessons, art activities and quieter individual work.
Soft purple and yellow details add colour without filling every surface. Large windows keep the rooms bright, while the light wood finishes bring warmth to the learning spaces.
